Around
1988, the residents of the Fullarton area, and specifically the
areas adjoining the industrial sites, observed signs of air pollution.
They also had noticed that many residents suffered poor health.
The residents concertedly acted and in November 1988, Strathclyde
Regional Council set up a Social Strategy sub-group to investigate
health within the area. As a result of this, by autumn 1989,
a Community Health House had been established.
